Soms kom je een boek tegen dat je gewoon leest… en soms kom je een boek tegen dat je écht voelt. *Burn* van Andrea M. Dean is voor mij zonder twijfel dat tweede soort.
Ik begon dit verhaal zonder al te veel verwachtingen, maar al vanaf de eerste pagina merkte ik dat dit iets bijzonders was. De schrijfstijl is zo natuurlijk en meeslepend dat je er moeiteloos in verdwijnt. Het is zo’n boek waarbij je “nog één hoofdstuk” blijft zeggen… en voor je het weet ben je uren verder.
Wat mij het meest raakte, zijn de personages. Ze voelen echt perse niet perfect, maar juist daardoor zo geloofwaardig. Nora’s reis is op een mooie en rustige manier opgebouwd, maar Astar… die heeft echt mijn hart gestolen. Zoveel warmte, charme en oprechtheid in één personage elke scène met Astar voelde bijzonder.
Wat dit verhaal voor mij extra sterk maakt, is dat het niet draait om een typische romance. Geen nadruk op “spice”, maar juist op connectie, groei en emotionele diepgang. De band tussen Nora en Astar is zo puur en zorgvuldig geschreven dat het je echt raakt. Het laat zien dat je geen klassieke liefdeslijn nodig hebt om een verhaal krachtig te maken.
Je voelt aan alles dat Andrea M. Dean dit verhaal met liefde en aandacht heeft geschreven. De details, de opbouw en de emoties kloppen gewoon. En dat maakt dat dit boek nog lang blijft hangen nadat je het hebt uitgelezen.
Voor mij was dit echt een fantastische leeservaring zo’n boek dat je stiekem nog even mist als het voorbij is.

Sometimes you come across a book you simply read… and sometimes you find one you truly feel. *Burn* by Andrea M. Dean is, without a doubt, the latter for me.
I started this story without many expectations, but from the very first pages, I could tell this was something special. The writing style is so smooth and immersive that you easily get lost in it. It’s one of those books where you keep saying “just one more chapter”… and suddenly hours have passed.
What stayed with me the most are the characters. They feel real not perfect, but that’s exactly what makes them so believable. Nora’s journey is beautifully developed, but Astar completely stole my heart. There’s so much warmth, charm, and sincerity in that character, and every scene with Astar felt a little more special.
What makes this story stand out even more is that it doesn’t rely on a typical romance. There’s no focus on spice instead, it’s all about connection, growth, and emotional depth. The bond between Nora and Astar is written with such care that it truly resonates. It shows that a story doesn’t need a traditional love story to be powerful.
You can feel the love and dedication Andrea M. Dean put into this book. The details, the pacing, and the emotional layers all come together beautifully, making it a story that stays with you long after you’ve finished reading.
For me, this was truly a fantastic reading experience the kind of book you secretly miss once it’s over.
